Furnace Installation in Hayden
A new furnace is only as good as the work around it. We size the unit to your home, then take our time on the venting, gas connection, condensate drain and wiring, so your heat comes on quietly and keeps coming on through long winters.
When a new furnace is the right call
Sometimes a repair makes sense, and we will tell you when it does. But when a furnace is near the end of its life, needs a costly part like a heat exchanger, or keeps failing every winter, replacing it often costs less over the next ten years than patching it.
Most of what decides how long a furnace lasts happens on install day. A flue pitched the wrong way, a drain line with no trap, a gas connection without a sediment trap, or a unit that is too big for the house will all shorten its life. We treat those details as the real job, not the extras.
There is no charge for us to estimate an installation or replacement. Before anything is removed or installed, you will have our quote in writing to look over. If a heat pump or a dual-fuel setup would suit your home better, we will lay out that option too.
What your installation includes
- Sizing for your home
- Before we recommend a size, we measure the rooms, check the windows and insulation, and ask which spaces tend to run cold. A furnace matched to the house runs long, steady cycles, which is easier on its parts and keeps the temperature even.
- Venting set up correctly
- High-efficiency furnaces vent through PVC that has to slope back toward the unit so condensation drains instead of pooling. We cut, prime, glue and support every joint, and we place the outside termination away from windows and snow lines.
- Gas connection and leak testing
- We install a shutoff and sediment trap at the furnace, then test every fitting for leaks before the burners ever light.
- Condensate drain and electrical
- The drain gets a proper trap and a clear path to a floor drain or pump. We connect power on a dedicated switch and wire the thermostat cleanly.
- Startup and combustion check
- We measure gas pressure, temperature rise and combustion readings, then adjust until the furnace runs within the manufacturer's specs.
- Haul-away and cleanup
- Your old furnace leaves with us, and the work area is swept and cleared before we go.
Signs it may be time to replace your furnace
Repairs every winter
If you are calling for service more than once a season, the money is usually better spent on a new unit.
Past 15 to 20 years old
Older furnaces slowly lose efficiency, and replacement parts get scarce. A furnace this age can keep running for a while, but a major repair on one becomes much harder to justify.
Rooms that never warm up
Uneven heat can mean a tired blower or a furnace that was never sized right for the house.
Rising gas bills
When your usage climbs and the weather has not changed, the furnace is often working harder to do the same job.
Cracked heat exchanger
This is a safety issue, since it can let combustion gases into your air. In most cases replacement is the sensible fix.
From first visit to first warm night
- 1
A walkthrough before any numbers
We come by to study the existing furnace, the flue, the gas supply and the room the unit lives in. We also ask what bothers you about your heat now. Afterward you receive a written quote that spells out every part and task.
- 2
Permit filed, date picked
Once you give the go-ahead, we file for the permit and book the work around your schedule. A typical replacement wraps up within one working day.
- 3
Out with the old, in with the new
Drop cloths go down first, then we shut off the gas and power and carry the old furnace out. The new one is set level, and the vent, gas line, drain and wiring are each finished and checked before we move on.
- 4
Readings, then a short tour
We light the burners and write down the test numbers. You will see where the filter goes, how often to change it, and which thermostat settings fit your routine. When an inspection is required, we book it and are there to meet the inspector.

What affects the cost of a new furnace
No two installs are quite alike, so we set a price only after seeing the space. The written quote lists everything included, and if something unexpected turns up, we talk with you before any change.
- Condensing or standard model
- A condensing furnace carries a higher price tag than a basic model, and it pays some of that back by burning less gas each winter. Two-stage and variable-speed blowers also raise the price, along with how even and quiet the heat feels.
- Venting changes
- Switching from a standard furnace to a condensing one usually calls for new PVC venting out through a wall or the roof. How far and which way that pipe has to run shapes the labor.
- Access and location
- Cramped crawlspaces and attics slow the work, and getting equipment in and out of them takes extra care. An open basement or garage goes quicker.
- Gas, electrical and permit needs
- Updating a gas connection, adding a condensate pump or bringing wiring up to code all factor in, along with permit fees.
Furnace installation questions
Something not covered here? (208) 834-9366
How long does a furnace installation take?
Most straightforward replacements take one day. Jobs that need new venting routes or work in a tight space can run longer. We will give you a realistic timeframe when we quote.
Will I be without heat for long?
Usually only for the hours we are working. We start early so the new furnace is running by evening. In a cold snap, we can talk about ways to keep a room warm while we work.
Should I replace my AC at the same time?
Not always. If your air conditioner is newer and in good shape, we can match the new furnace to it. If it is older, pairing it with an AC installation can save a second visit and keep the system matched.
Is a heat pump a better choice than a furnace?
That comes down to your home and what matters most to you. One option we often price is dual fuel, where a heat pump carries most of the season and the gas furnace takes over when temperatures drop hard. We can quote a furnace alone and a combined setup side by side so you can compare.
Do you take care of the permit?
Yes. We pull the permit, handle the paperwork and schedule any inspection that is required, so you do not have to.

Ready to talk about a new furnace?
We will come look at your home, explain your options plainly, and give you a written quote at no cost. If your furnace has already quit, we also handle 24/7 emergency HVAC repair.
